A Note From Seniorlink CEO Tom Riley on COVID-19
First and foremost, I hope you, your staff and your loved ones are safe and healthy. It goes without saying that we are living through unprecedented times. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread and news changes by the minute. As a result, our healthcare community has been in the spotlight as the country looks to us to provide comfort and safety. I know that each of you is responding to the challenge and I want you to know how Seniorlink has responded.
- The investments we have made in technology have allowed Seniorlink to transition the entire organization—545 full and part time staff—to remote status as of March 17, 2020; by the end of last week, we were able to communicate with the nearly 6,400 families we are actively serving across nine states.
- Our HIPAA-secure collaboration app, Vela, has allowed us to conduct 100% of our home visits virtually. This has been made possible because of the flexibility regarding physical home visits and we thank all of our payer-partners for that flexibility.
- We have rapidly developed protocols, that you may know as our CarePaths, to include content that will help families as they support loved ones at home. We have focused on themes such as: COVID-19 Risk Management for Caregivers, Hand-washing & Coughing Etiquette, Quarantine and Isolation, Reducing the Spread of Illness in the Home, Staying Active at Home, and Staying Positive When Times are Difficult.
- We are using Vela to survey staff and caregivers on a routine basis, focused on identifying signs and symptoms of stress brought on by COVID-19. We are experiencing very high response rates – 71% within 3 hours of sending to thousands of families last week. Data from these surveys allows us to identify emerging challenges and provide differential support to staff, caregivers and consumers.
Finally, we invite you to join our Partner Portal – a newly created resource hub featuring industry, clinical and caregiving content relative to the current pandemic. This portal also includes access to our COVID-19 Partner Support Team, a group of our operational leadership, committed to serving you and the families you serve during these unpredictable, difficult times.
Thank you for your partnership. Together, we will navigate through these challenging times and serve families who need our support now more than ever.
Warm Regards,
Tom Riley
President & CEO
