Marisa Shafer, Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant at Careforth

Faces of Careforth: Marisa Shafer

Behind every caregiver we support is a team of people working thoughtfully and intentionally to make that support possible. At Careforth, our talent acquisition team shapes who joins our organization and, ultimately, how well we serve caregivers and families. Finding the right people isn’t just about filling open roles; it’s about building a team with empathy, purpose, and an understanding of the responsibility that comes with this work.

Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant Marisa Shafer plays a critical role in that process. From the first conversation to the final offer, Marisa’s work ensures that the people joining Careforth do so with care, compassion, and accountability, so caregivers can feel that support at every touchpoint.

What is your role and how long have you worked at Careforth?

I’m a Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant, and I’ve been with Careforth for five years. During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to grow alongside the company and help build teams that support our mission.

What inspired you to join the Careforth team?

Careforth’s mission really stood out to me. I wanted to contribute in a meaningful way and support families and caregivers by bringing in talented, passionate people who believe in the work we do.

How do you support families and caregivers in your role, and why is it important?

I support families and caregivers by hiring people who are committed to Careforth’s mission and values. Bringing in the right talent is important because it helps ensure caregivers are surrounded by teams who provide meaningful, connected support.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy hearing how passionate candidates are about Careforth’s mission and then watching them get hired and make a real impact once they join the organization. I’m inspired by the stories I hear from candidates and colleagues about the meaningful impact this work has on families and caregivers.

How do you contribute to our company’s mission and values?

By leading from the heart and building trust, I help bring in people who are passionate about supporting family caregivers in their homes.

What’s something interesting about your job that people may not know?

I often connect with candidates who may have never heard of Careforth and get the opportunity to introduce them to opportunities that can completely change their career path.

How do you maintain a positive work-life balance in this field?

I rely on staying organized and being present during the workday. I’m also fortunate to work with a supportive team that understands how important balance is.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in healthcare?

Healthcare is a great field for making an impact, even if you’re not in a clinical role. There are many opportunities to support others and do meaningful work.

What is one fun fact about you that your colleagues may not know about?

I’ve gone skydiving before even though I’m afraid of heights.
