Faces of Careforth: Connie Blanton

Faces of Careforth: Connie Blanton

At the heart of our mission are dedicated professionals who bring compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to the families we serve. This month, we’re proud to spotlight one of our incredible RN care coaches who has been with Careforth for the past two years: Connie Blanton.

With a strong clinical background and a deep passion for helping others, Connie plays a vital role in guiding family caregivers through their journeys—providing not only medical insight, but also emotional support when it matters most. Read on to learn more about Connie’s story, what inspires her, and why she loves being part of our team.

What is your role and how long have you worked at Careforth?

I joined Careforth as an RN Care Coach for the state of Georgia in May 2023.

What inspired you to join our team?

I wanted to share all my knowledge of diseases, disorders, and treatments with caregivers in understandable terms and to be able to serve as a resource collaborating with other Careforth associates.

How do you support families and caregivers in your role, and why is it important?

I provide support by listening, breaking down healthcare knowledge barriers, increasing awareness of health concerns, and identifying how caregivers can most effectively advocate for their loved ones. Empowering them with knowledge and understanding is key.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love the collaboration and connection—not only within Careforth, but with caregivers and their loved ones as well.

How do you contribute to our company’s mission and values?

I strive to provide as much support as I can to allow families to care for their loved ones in the comfort of their home for as long as possible.

What’s something interesting about your job that people may not know?

I serve as a resource to care coaches, caregivers, and those they care for. I personally speak with caregivers or their loved ones when they are discharged after hospitalization to review diagnoses, confirm discharge plans, answer medical questions, and review medication actions. Timely communication is essential to understanding and providing better support.

How do you maintain a positive work-life balance in this field?

Being fully remote has improved my work-life balance. I’m living my life, and work is a component of it. I have a designated workspace that is healthcare focused (journals, reference materials, diplomas), so when I am at my desk, I am in a productive, focused environment. I set clear work hours, and taking regular breaks helps me stay focused and motivated throughout the day. When the work day is over, I get in the pool or on the water to wash off the “work sweat!”

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in healthcare?

Before deciding to rise to the challenge, consider whether you have the critical traits needed to work in the healthcare field. Empathy, helpfulness, patience, the ability to communicate with all personality types, and relating to those of all educational and socioeconomic backgrounds are all important parts of the job.

What is one fun fact about you that your colleagues may not know about?

Several summers ago, my husband and I left our home in the Florida Keys and traveled 860 nautical miles throughout the Bahamas on two Yamaha WaveRunners!
