Faces of Careforth: José Aquino
Caregiving looks different for every family, but one thing remains constant: the need for support, guidance, and connection along the way. Part of that support is built through relationships with local organizations, healthcare partners, and community groups who help ensure caregivers know where to turn. Vice President of Sales & Community Partnerships José Aquino leads that work and shares why it matters for families we serve.
José’s perspective is shaped not only by his role at Careforth, but by his own experience as a caregiver for his parents. In this Q&A, he shares more about his journey and how his team is connecting more families to the support they deserve.
What is your role and how long have you worked at Careforth?
I am the Vice President of Sales & Community Partnerships. I have been in the role for just over 2 years.
What inspired you to join our team?
I became a caregiver myself and wanted to share my experiences with others. I had known Careforth well and had several friends here, so it felt like the right place to grow—not just professionally, but as a caregiver too.
How do you support families and caregivers in your role, and why is it important?
I support families and caregivers by bringing my personal caregiving experience into everything we do. From shaping bilingual communications to serving as the voice of the customer and equipping my field team with the tools they need to promote our services across the community, my focus is ensuring caregivers feel supported and confident in their role.
Do you have a personal connection to caregiving that you’re comfortable sharing? If so, what is it?
I have been my dad’s caregiver for 6 years, supporting him with a range of essential needs including money management, healthcare decisions, housing support, and medication management. More recently, I’ve also taken on caregiving responsibilities for my mom. Her needs are more centered around emotional support, which is just as important.
Spring marks the beginning of baseball season, a pastime for all ages to enjoy. Do you (or your father) have any traditions, stories, or special meaning tied to this season?
Baseball is a shared happy place for my dad and me. We both love playing and watching the game. Our annual tradition is traveling to Fort Myers, Florida, to play in a father-son baseball tournament.

How does your work contribute to Careforth’s mission and values?
My work brings our mission to life by expanding our reach and building strong community partnerships that connect more caregivers to our services. Through our sales and community efforts, we ensure families know they are not alone and have access to the support, guidance, and resources they need to confidently care for their loved ones at home.
What’s something interesting about your job that people may not know?
Being successful in this work requires building a highly skilled and diverse workforce that truly reflects the populations we serve.
How do you maintain a positive work-life balance in this field?
I stay anchored on what matters most—being present with my family. My work requires a lot of focus and time, so when I unplug, I stay fully committed to them. I also make sure to mix in fun throughout the workday.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in sales within the healthcare space?
Don’t be afraid. The skills you build in this field will support you throughout your entire career across all roles.
What is one fun fact about you that your colleagues may not know about?
I’m still a kid at heart. I love playing sports and video games with my son.
What is your favorite quote?
“A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” – Jackie Robinson
