Polk Country (Ga.) Standard Journal Highlights Seniorlink-Sponsored ‘2020 Caregiver of the Year’ Award Recipients

A caregiver from Northwest Georgia was surprised to learn that she had won a Seniorlink-sponsored award at an in-person ceremony on Nov. 17. The Polk County (Georgia) Standard Journal reported that Camille Adams had won the 2020 Paraprofessional of the Year award, presented by the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving, for her work at the Cedar Heights apartments in Cedartown, Ga. Adams was one of three caregivers to receive 2020 Georgia Caregiver of the Year awards from RCI and Seniorlink, as mentioned in the story. Alesia Simon of Bowdon received the award for Family Caregiver of the Year and Javoski Harden of Macon received the award for Volunteer Caregiver of the Year.

Seniorlink congratulates the recipients of this award, and is honored to be part of the RCI’s tireless pursuit of recognition and for family caregivers.

This annual recognition comes during November’s National Family Caregiver Month, a nationwide celebration of the men and women who support individuals in need of care. “The team at Seniorlink sends our warmest thanks and congratulations to Javoski, Alesia, and Camille, and to all of the caregivers across Georgia and beyond who selflessly provide care to people in need,” Shikira Wallace, Georgia’s Manager of Program Development, Seniorlink, said in the story. “Seniorlink is committed to celebrating and supporting caregivers nationwide, and it was our distinct honor to sponsor the Georgia Caregiver of the Year Awards as a sign of that commitment.” Dr. Jennifer Olsen, executive director of RCI said the nation’s 53 million caregivers have served as “the invisible frontline of our health care system, and they deserve our recognition and support.” “The Georgia Caregivers of the Year, and all of this year’s nominees, exemplify the strength, resilience, and compassion of caregivers everywhere. It’s our honor to celebrate their amazing contributions to our communities,” Olsen said in the story. Learn more about RCI’s 2020 Georgia Caregiver of the Year awards.
